What an MP can do for you?

My team and I help residents every day with a wide range of issues, from housing and benefits to immigration and local concerns. If you need support or are unsure where to turn, please do get in touch with my office at fleur.anderson.mp@parliament.uk and we will do our best to help.

Below is some information about the kinds of issues I can assist with and useful organisations that may also be able to offer support.

 

 

Housing

What I can assist with:

  • Enquiries about your position on the Housing Register
  • Contacting Wandsworth Council or Housing Associations regarding repair works
  • Raising issues with Wandsworth Council about private rented properties
  • Contacting Wandsworth Council regarding pending evictions

Benefits

FAQs:

Can you help me make a claim?
MPs cannot submit claims on your behalf. Please contact your local Job Centre or Citizens Advice Bureau for help with new applications.

Can you offer legal advice?
MPs cannot provide legal advice or intervene in legal proceedings.

Can you overturn DWP decisions?
I can request a review of certain decisions, but I cannot overturn them.

 

 

 

Immigration

What I can assist with:

  • Requesting updates from the Home Office on outstanding applications
  • Inquiring about Home Office procedures
  • Clarifying rights to work in the UK during an application
  • Inquiring into imminent removal or deportation cases

 

Important Note:

I cannot guarantee the Home Office will provide the outcome you want, nor do I have the power to change their decisions. If you are acting on someone else’s behalf, please complete and return the LOA form with a dated wet signature.

 

FAQs:

Can you overturn a Home Office decision?
MPs have no jurisdiction over Home Office decisions. If you wish to appeal, please consult a registered legal adviser.

Can you write a letter of support for a visa application?
I cannot write letters of support for constituents or their relatives/friends applying for visas.

Can you confirm my right to work during an outstanding application?
Yes, I can contact the Home Office on your behalf for clarification.

Can you help with someone else’s immigration case?
Due to Home Office rules, I cannot make inquiries or share information about third-party cases.

You contacted the Home Office for me, but I haven’t heard back. Is there a delay?
Responses can take up to six weeks. I will inform you as soon as I receive one.

  • Connecting charities, organisations, and businesses with shared interests
  • Raising crime concerns with the police
  • Escalating issues to Government Ministers or Parliament (if other avenues have been exhausted)
  • Referrals to signature

I typically receive responses from Wandsworth Council and other organisations within four weeks.
