First ever Roehampton Community Week a real hit with local residents with 2000 people in attendance across 37 events. 

After months of planning, the first ever Roehampton Community Week has been a resounding success. There were 37 events in total that took place across seven days. These events were delivered by residents and 45 local organisations in total, including the Royal Marines, the Ubuntu Museum, Street Doctors and Holy Trinity Church.

The week kicked off with the big reveal of the Alton Pop-Up Panel of Art. The contributions were fantastic and included paintings from local artists along with submissions from Ibstock Place, Sacred Heart, Roehampton Church, Alton and Granard Schools. That set the tone for a successful week with around 2,000 people attending the events overall. There really was something for everyone with lectures, films, sports and fitness activities, community walks, cycles and arts & crafts lessons.

It shows the huge appetite for community engagement and activities in Roehampton and many hope that this will be the first Roehampton Community Week of many.

“A highlight of the week was the big reveal of the Alton Pop-Up Panel of Art on Monday organised by Lynne Capocciama. It was a great start to the week and will be up for a long time for everyone to see. There is so much talent in Roehampton and it’s brilliant that we now have it on show.
