Fleur Anderson MP Labour MP for Putney, Roehampton & Southfields
The Enhanced GP Hub at Queen Mary’s Hospital has been saved following a campaign
by local MP Fleur Anderson, local councillors and a petition signed by nearly 10,000
local people.
Fleur Anderson MP met with local MPs and Queen Mary’s Hospital management on 25th September and was given the good news. The Enhanced Primary Care Hub is also known as the minor injuries unit and faced closure after a consultation. Today’s decision closes the consultation.
The Hub treats 830 patients each month and provides accessible, high-quality care.
Fleur Anderson said:
“This is fantastic news for our community. The number of people who signed the
petition shows what a valued service it is. St George’s and Kingston Hospitals are far
away for Roehampton and Putney residents. I am delighted that the St George’s Trust
Management listened to us and have changed their minds. I’ll be working with the
Roehampton councillors and the Trust to return it to being a walk-in service too.”
During the pandemic, Fleur Anderson successfully campaigned to save it from closure.
Recently, she held an urgent meeting with the CEO of the Integrated Care Board and
met with Health Minister Karin Smyth to set out her concerns about proposed service
changes, emphasising the importance of community care in Roehampton. The petition
opposing any reduction in services had gained more than 8,000 signatures in just one
week.
Fleur Anderson added:
“I called Lisa Bogg straight away to tell her the good news. She started the petition
because she works at Putneymead GP surgery and sees how needed this service is. The
Enhanced Primary Care Hub is an excellent example of the NHS’s vision to provide
more care in community settings. It allows patients to be treated quickly and close to
home, prevents minor conditions from escalating, and is staffed by highly skilled
practitioners who know the community well.”
