Fleur at Hammersmith Bridge with Elly Baker and Sam Tarry MP

I wanted to let you know that I am still campaigning for Hammersmith Bridge to be reopened and spoke about this twice in Parliament in May.

You can view a clip of my speeches here and here. Or read my speech and the rest of the debate here.
I have also met with Seb Dance, the Deputy Mayor of Transport for London in Putney to see the effect of the traffic from the bridge for himself, raised it with Sadiq Khan the Mayor of London. Both agree that action must be taken and are also pushing the Government to provide the funding needed.
Three weeks ago, I invited the Shadow Minister for Transport, Sam Tarry MP, to meet me at the bridge and see the closure for himself and experience the drive along the Lower Richmond Road.
I also met with Baroness Vere, Chair of the Hammersmith Bridge Task Force, and told her again about the pollution, congestion and impact on road safety of the on-going closure of the bridge to vehicles. She said that she is waiting for Hammersmith and Fulham to submit a proposal and I know that Hammersmith and Fulham Council are very disappointed that Baroness Vere will not move on insisting that the Council and TfL each pay a third of the £100 million cost that they are unable to. There remains an impasse, and I will continue to push for action and show the impact on us in Putney whenever and wherever I can.
