Mobile Phone Reception in West Putney

I have continued my campaign to secure better mobile phone reception in West Putney. This month I held a meeting with Council Leader Simon Hogg, West Putney Councillors Claire Gilbert and Jeremy Ambache, Council Lead for Housing and Planning Aydin Dikerdim, Planning Members and mobile phone networks to figure out what can be done to address the lack of coverage.

It is bizarre that we are in central London and yet there’s so many people who cannot get good access to mobile phone reception.

It is accepted by the telecoms companies locally and by the Council that there is a ‘not spot’ in this area, a black spot for telecommunications. Planning permission has been agreed for one mast so far, on Haverstock House, which is really welcome news. That will cover one part of the affected area. But there is a need for three more masts.

In the meeting, we looked at different ways masts could be installed including on the top of the buildings. I believe this would be the best solution. The phone companies and the Council have agreed to work together to put through some applications which will be really welcomed by local people who want to see this addressed and can be passed and just really get on with this.

It’s been going on for too long and is affecting far too many. This issue needs to be solved.
